A Letter from the Founder and Executive Director The Caribbean International Film Festival (CIFF) aims to make a year-round difference with the implementation of film-based activities, which conclude with a multi-faceted film festival. My purpose and goal for the CIFF is to utilize my passion for film and television to enrich local culture and raise a consciousness of film as an art-form. Through the festival, we will give the independent filmmaker a platform to showcase his or her work and mentor young filmmakers from around the world.
The Caribbean International Film Festival has a story behind its incorporation. In 2001, my mother was diagnosed and succumbed to Breast Cancer. In relation to her legacy and my career, I foresaw a connection and an opportunity to make a difference. As an entertainment industry veteran with over 17 years of expertise, I foresaw the need to create a venue and an outlet to raise attention to breast cancer, while doing what I love to do… make movies.
When used correctly, media is the greatest publicity and educational tool in the world. We hope to make this years Festival must on everyone’s journey in filmmaking, and along the way helping the next generation of filmmakers make it happen!
